I'm Still Alive!

Hey y'all!! 

I've been out almost a month now and I haven't kept y'all updated! I was in the MTC (missionary training center) for 3 weeks and this past week was my first one ACTUALLY out in Idaho! 

Time flew by in the mtc and I made some friends that I'll never forget about. The most important things I learned there are:

1. God loves you so much and whether you like it or not He is there for you, no matter the circumstances  

2. I learned how to follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit and how to apply that when talking to a person that is struggling (I needed to stop being stubborn and telling the person what I thought they needed to hear)

I know y'all want to hear more fun stories and I'll get to them bc they're actually legendary! But I feel it's very important that I let y'all know a mission IS NOT a vacation. I wake up at 6:25 and don't get home until 9:15 everyday. It's draining but the blessings outweigh any kind of negative feelings I have. 

My new companion is Elder Hatch!! He's from Alabama and our families were super close! I never met him in person though bc anytime we would go to his house he'd be at football and anytime he'd come over I'd be at football! For missionaries in the same mission to know each other is unheard of so I feel like that was a tender mercy of God. 

We work very well together and we've been able to talk to lots of people. Most are pretty willing to talk about Jesus Christ:)

MY FIRST DAY STORIES: 

Okay my companion and I go up to a house that has been notorious for being mean to lds missionaries and I wanted to see what it was like to be shut down hard haha so we knock and this 25 yr old looking guy answers and slams the door and goes back into the house yelling "Hey Eric it's the Mormons come up!" He comes back to the door with another guy his age and invites us in and so we take a step in and walk into the living room. They close the door behind us and grab a BASEBALL BAT AND GUN and start screaming "go downstairs right now!" So elder hatch and I have to listen but I was about to start swinging. Elder hatch and I got put into a closet and I swear we were gonna get shot thru the door. They ask "Are you Mormons!?" 

"Yes" 

"Come out and prove it" 

Elder hatch leaves the closet with his hands up and all of these guys start DYING laughing!! Elder Hatch and these other fools (Carter) thought it would be sooooo funny if they made my 1st day memorable! They sure did! Haha I'll never forget the time I almost was murdered in IDAHO of all places;) 

Besides the wind I love this work, I love the people, and I love the Lord! More next week! Feel free to write whenever:)
