Youth Conference And The Sorrows Of Death

Image
OK yall! I am so sorry, last week I posted a picture that looked like I was in a hospital gown and in reality I was just at the dermatologist. Karma came back and got me for it though.. One of the reasons I was very excited to come here to Idaho is because of the potato dishes they have here. I had one particular potato dish called "tater salad" and I ate lots of it. It was a little warm but hey, when in Idaho eat warm potato salad. Holy smokes lets just say I felt super bad for my companion the night after. #RIPelderHatch  Im all better now though. I lost 8 lbs so that stinks.. gotta gain it back. currently at exactly 200 if yall want to know.  The day after this dreadful night was one of the most looked forward to dates of our companionship. We got to go teach lessons and do activities for the youth at Youth Conference. Elder Hatch was awesome, he took on the lead bc he knew I was sick. what was nutso was the stinkin leaders asked for us to go up and sing with like 4 other ...

Family Reunion / Lumberjacks

First off let me start by saying being away from my awesome dad on Fathers day was the worst!  This week Elder Hatchs trainer came on exchanges with us. (in missionary terms it makes him my grandpa) Elder Slade is his name. so for one whole day we had a grandpa, father and son out teachin the word!  Elder Slade was a very very good example of how a missionary should be. He asked the most amazing questions, I hope to be like that by the end of my mission.  We set some Goals together and we worked our tails off to get them, we fell short but we were okay with it because we knew we did all we could. Goals are something to help us stretch, we dont need to feel bad and get on ourselves if we dont reach them. Thats what Elder Slade helped me out with and taught me. He goes home to Arizona in 7 weeks or so. I'll miss him. We did some service at a families house two days in a row this week, we put up some fences and took out a lot of trees so we can make fences. It started to pou...

Idaho Got Jokes!

Y'all I feel like a cow in a field of tall grass, I'm utterly tickled to be here ;) hehe had to throw in an old farmer joke, he was very proud when he told us that ^ We had a zone conference! It was my 2nd one so I wasnt making rookie mistakes there:) we learned a TON of good stuff.  One of my favorite things we talked about was the use of Preach my Gospel. In the MTC we used it a ton but once I came out to the mission field we kinda stopped. it was a very good reminder of whats really important in my life as a missionary. Its also a super super good study tool. We have our car back and we're staying under miles so we never have to walk again. Butttttttt..... Missionaries arent above the law.. Elder Hatch was driving thru the TINY town of ririe and rolled thru a stop sign, not on purpose and we got pulled over.. it was literally the first cop Ive seen here. just our luck. we'll see what the mission office has to say. we really dont want to get the car revoked again haha...
