The Interesting People Of Idaho
Its been a long one this week. We switched our Pday to Tuesday for this week so sorry if anyone was expecting an email yesterday.
Last monday I got to see my awesome cousin Sabrina! Elder Hatch and I taught her FHE group and she didnt know about the surprise. Seein family was a tender mercy from Heavenly Father to keep me goin strong thru the week.
Like I said, its been a long one. I went on 3 exchanges with 3 different missionaries and there were lots of adventures that followed. One of them was the other missionaries apartment flooded so we had to sleep in a swampy wet floor. The smell was probably the worst part. the next comp we tried to make some fried chicken and the oil was too hot and so the chicken on the outside got super crispy but the middle was raw. I wasnt hungry so my comp ate it and thought he was gonna be ok until our drive up to swan valley. he got pretty sick to say the least. The next and last exchange was the best for me. it was with my district leader Elder Freeze. Nothing too crazy happened except I ate some crazy hot sauce called Black Mamba. We got done with a lesson and Freeze and I had a little heart to heart. He helped me out a ton and answered a lot of my questions.
When Elder Hatch and I got back together we went to a dinner and there was a HUGE guy there. turns out hes a cop in pocatello but for a "hobby" hes the National Arm Wrestling Champion. Hatch and I both got to learn a few techniques and now we're basically pro.
The next day day we were asked to go to swan valley and run a booth at the art festival for a couple hours. Our little booth talked about what we believe and a lot of stuff about family history. because it was a festival there was some pretty cool music. one of the musicians came and talked to us and last year she was the national fiddle champion. How cool is that!? Idaho is full of interesting people. we got cussed out by a few antis and it was a fun experience haha.
Ive been reading some pretty awesome things that has helped me out and I want to share some of it.
Theres a talk called "For Times of Trouble" by Jeffrey Holland and it answered my questions of how can I grow and how can I be a better follower of Christ, (Because I feel like Im being held back or something.)
4 things Elder Holland says that meant so much to me.
1. Pray and Fast with purpose and devotion.
2. Serve others.
3. Be Patient (With many things the only way out is through. Keep moving. Keep trying)
4. Have Faith.
I realized my problems arent going to be fixed in the blink of an eye I need to keep pushing through. Thats what I hope all of you realize as well. He talks more about some other things but I think you all need to look for yourself. I challenge yall to look up that talk and apply it to your lives. Its already helped mine out here in the field so much.
I love this quote in there: "In the Church we ask for faith, not infallibility"
infallibility is the quality of never making an error
We dont need to worry if we're not perfect! as long as we're striving our best! :)
I love and miss you all!!
