Halloween!
Okay so Halloween for missionaries is weird! we got locked in a building from 6-9 so we could all be accounted for. (all these Idahoans dress up as missionaries and do dumb stuff so we stayed in)
We had the sisters set up a bunch of stuff for us, it was so awesome! The best game was the newly wed game but for companionships! Me and Elder Oringdulph won!! We then carved pumpkins and watched COCO! it was so good but we didn't get to watch the end. I was so sad!
Something awesome happened this week so here it goes!
On the 30th at 9:00 at night we were on our way home (which was a 25 minute walk from where we were) we're hustling home because we are in a spooky trailer park. Not to mention it was 36 degrees with a bad wind.
We pass a trailer and keep walking and I get hit with the feeling that we need to backtrack 5 minutes to this random trailer! We knock and a voice tells us to come in. We get in to a super warm house and we see an old lady sprawled out on her couch with oxygen in her nose and pills all around her. she sees us and immediately yells, "GET OUT!! LEAVE!!! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!!"
So we boogie on out of there and get going home. while we're walking I'm contemplating on why the heck Heavenly Father gave me that prompting and if it really came from Him why we got shut down from it. I asked Elder Oringdulph what he thought and he said, "Maybe the Lord was just seeing if you would be obedient" That made sense and I was still sad I didn't see success. 10 minutes into our walk home I get hit with a prompting again! It wasn't as strong as the first prompting so I kinda 2nd guessed myself. But I was "enticed to do good" so we went with it. We went and knocked and a lady answers and tells us to come in. We do, there is a man sitting on a couch. We ask their names and they tell us. (it was a name we were trying to find for forever!!) Anyways I try to not show my excitement and I tell him the whole story of us following a prompting and getting shut down. I tell him, "We followed a prompting again and we're in, WHY ARE WE HERE?"
He sits there and Kinda chuckles and he says, "Well, there has been a few other visits that have happened like this and I guess it is time for me to start coming back to church."
We were so happy and told him that we were there for him if he needed anything. We said a prayer and got a ride home from it! (made it home barely by curfew)
I am so thankful Heavenly Father gives us promptings. He hears our prayers and He answers them in His own ways. All it takes is us being obedient to the promptings.
"Pray as if everything depends on the Lord and Work as if Everything depends on yourself"
