"I Thought You Were A Missionary!"

Image
Hello everyone! This week I finally got to do physical labor! Service helps clear my head and get my mind back on track.  Reminds me of some of my favorite lines from Hymn #29 It's from the perspective of the Good Samaritan after he helped the bloody, bruised, and beaten man on the road.  "I (also) had myself a wound concealed, but from that hour forgot the smart, and peace bound up my broken heart" I know that as we serve others and choose to make sacrifices (even when we're hurting) we will be blessed, and our individual burdens will be eased.  I love y'all! "Appoint Yourself A Teacher"

Image
When holding a meeting, having a lesson, or leading a council, the principles in D&C 88:122 show us the way the Lord would have us go about it. (This could be super applicable in Family Home Evening) Elder Bednar came to the mission and spent 3 hours with just the missionaries. He commended us for our preparation. He said, "The second I walked in I knew that you all have been preparing for today"  That was a good little compliment!  He got up and asked US what we learned from our preparation, it gave us a brief opportunity to testify to an Apostle of the Lord. After we testified and shared what we learned he would go into a brief teaching moment and WOW. It is amazing how he clearly shares his thoughts.  After about an hour and a half he opened up to questions. I quickly found that all my questions were already answered in the teaching phase of this devotional.  I was his mic passer arounder so I got to take a few notes but I was going back and forth constantly....

Hello everyone!  This is gonna be a quickie! Zone Conference is all this week so we have to get into some meetings! This week was awesome!  I got to go on 3 exchanges with 3 amazing elders! I learned from all of them. The biggest blessing was I was able to stay in my area for the WHOLE WEEK! That has never happened before! At the beginning of exchanges we like to set expectations, a usual conversation I like to have is that they're in my area to touch lives, not just be on a mini vacation away from their comps. Every single one of them talked and participated and acted as themselves. (Sometimes on Exchanges Missionaries put on a front). On an exchange with 7 week old Elder Luekenga we contacted a family that I've been dying to meet and Elder Luekenga totally stepped up and the mom was like, "Yeah my 8 year old and 12 year old have been wanting to talk to missionaries so they can be baptized. What's your number?" BAM! I then got to go with Elder Wood and because he...

Zone Conference was this week and we had Elder Hathaway come and talk with us! It was so awesome, One of the things he emphasized was the comparison of "Degree vs Effect" and how it related to disobedience. When I have more time I'll write about it in depth, but in short we talked about how silly it is to justify your actions even if it's small.  We are getting ready for Elder Bednar!! He's coming to the mission and will (potentially) be coming to some of the missionaries houses! I hope he comes to ours! I'll just give yall the pics! Love Y'all! 1-3. Exchange with Elder Loggins. "Diligence Is Merely A Symptom"

Hello everyone! Transfer week is over and all missionaries are safe! We only lost ONE companionship but it's okay. We had a whitewash in sugar city and the Elders that were going to be serving there (Elder Leavitt and Elder Beal, AKA my Son and Grandson) didn't have a sim card or anything. They decided to follow us from the mission office to Rigby. Somehow they got stopped at a light and fell way behind us. They scooby-dooed their way out of their situation and made it safe :) We had a few lessons at the VC this week (We've found that's one of the best places to teach because of the Spirit that is felt there) I learned and realized some new things this week. And it was all because of an inspired question our friend Curtis asked us.  "Why did Christ let them struggle in fear for so long?" Here's what we'd been talking about prior to this great question: In the visitors center there's a video series called "The Storms of Life". They all sta...
