Come What May, And Love It
Hey everyone!
This week was a doozie. But surprisingly one where I learned more than I probably ever have. I have grown to have the BIGGEST appreciation for the Bible and what it teaches. (Shout out to Elder Ammon Garrison for helping me set a goal to read through the New Testament)
I'll share what I've learned after I try and paint a picture as to what the heck is happening here in Rexburg Idaho.
Rexburg is FULL of literally the best members around, people that will go out and knock on doors for us. Members that would drop anything just to give us a ride somewhere. With all the craziness that's happened, our Mission President told us we needed to go and buy 2 weeks worth of food storage (just in case we have to be quarantined). This was before anything even got to Idaho so we weren't super worried but went anyways. NOT A SINGLE EGG OR THING OF BUTTER IN ALL OF WALMART. pretty crazy. Members have told us we can go shopping at their houses if we need to so that's super kind haha.
THEN WE GOT HIT IN BOISE. THEN IN DRIGGS, IDAHO
Driggs is like a 40 minute drive for us and ALL the college kids up here freaked out. BYUI shut down which meant that over 90% of the people being taught in Rexburg moved back to their homes. Then to add on top of that a lot of members are even scared to have us talk to them, which is normal I guess. It's the first time where it's actually been hard to get into a door. It's so crazy. Dinners are cancelling on us and leaving stuff on our front porch. The father of the girl we're going to baptize on Saturday was up in Driggs for a long time, and he is quarantined now..
But surprisingly I feel totally and completely fine. I know that the Lord has been "... reveal(ing) His secrets unto His ... Prophets" (Amos 3:7) and "... when (we) do what (the Prophets) say ... " "... we will be blessed in all things, temporal and spiritual" (D&C 82:10) (Mosiah 2:41)
The Lord taught those that were hesitant to heed the council of Prophets, "... whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same" (D&C 1:38)
Prophets are men "... that (are) chosen before (they) are born" (Abraham 3:23) to "Say unto ... people: Choose ye this day, to serve the Lord God who made you." (Moses 6:33)
I have felt so much happiness and JOY as I have "served the (one) who made (me)."
I don't have to know the big picture, I don't have to know the end results, all I have to know is that Christ at all times is going to call out, "Follow me" (Matthew 4:19). That one extra step towards Christ is all I need.
I know that when Christ calls out, "Follow Me" that means He knows the way out. He knows the way because He is the way. (John 14:6)
I've found that worrying about life doesn't help my situation get better. When we ask, "what can I learn from this?" instead of "why did this happen to me?" We will be a lot happier!
"... to be spiritually minded is life and peace." (Romans 8:6) Always have an eternal perspective!
I love you all!
