An American, A Tongan, And A 1 Armed Chinese Man Walk Into A Church Building

Sounds like the beginning of a funny joke huh!? In reality that's just our companionship now!! Elder McGuire is back in the mission! He previously was serving in Hong Kong but then he got the Corona Virus so he got sent here! (Not really, he went through quarantine and everything so he's safe) Our week was so fun! But SO COLD!  The cold was the means of a super amazing miracle though!  Before I tell the miracle I want to give yall a fun fact!  Did y'all know that if you have a facemask on the steam from your breath will go up and stick to your eyelashes and then bc your eyes are exposed to the wind the steam will freeze and you'll get ice chunks that weigh your eyes down?? It's a phenomenon Elder 'Umu likes to call, "oku fu'u momoko 'aupito" (translation: It's freezing out here!) So, there we were, scraping ice off our eyes and getting to our next appointment. We walk past a house that has lights on and in the window in the kitchen we see a...

I Know It's True. Therefore, What?

Yesterday was one of the most Spiritual days I've had on my mission. I now have a new favorite hymn. At a fireside all the missionaries that were there got invited to sing a song called "I Believe in Christ". I wish so bad the appreciation I have for that song could be expressed in my voice. Or even words as I write y'all today. It says, "I believe in Christ - my Lord my God! [...] I'll worship him with all my might; He is the source of truth and light."  In the 15 seconds it took to sing that line, 22 months worth of memories flashed into my mind. Times where I've felt encouraged for no reason came to me and I recognized that it was because of Christ. It goes on, "I believe in Christ; so come what may!"  Never before had I felt so motivated to give up everything to my God. With the little bit of time I have left I know the sacrifices I make will be worth it in the end. Whatever comes, I will love it :) "And now behold, I say unto you ...

It Happened.

Hey everyone!! My time has come. After 11 months of serving in the same square mile I'm being transferred!! I have absolutely loved my time here in Ammon. There are so many things I could write about but the one thing that has stayed consistent is the blessings that the Lord shows me week after week.  Last night we were teaching a 17 year old named Forrest and he said, "Elder Legas, there's been a bunch of people that have helped me on this path that I'm on but if it weren't for you I don't know if I'd be here.. would you be able to baptize me?"  I was speechless, I felt so honored. I told him absolutely!  I'm gonna miss Ammon like crazy but I know Rexburg is going to be awesome! I'm whitewashing with ELDER FA'AUMU! He's only been out 6 weeks and I'll get to teach him english as well! Rexburg is going to be a doozie but I'm SO EXCITED!!  Here's some pictures from this week:) 1. "Angels" - Khalid

Okay, that's the last song I'll make as my subject line but it ties in to one of the craziest moments of my mission so far. Setting the Scene: It's 7:50 pm on Sunday night, Idaho is already pitch black and for the past 45 minutes it's been raining this rain that just freezes to the car and to the ground, not only does it stick to the ground but because of how windy it was the icy mess sticks to any flat surface. Walls, traffic signs, windows of houses, etc.. We are driving our 2020 Sienna Minivan and I'm a SUPER passive driver, all of my companions have made fun of me for it.  We are about 100 yards from a round-a-bout getting ready to turn left and in the distance to our left we see a big ol truck about 150 yards out heading towards the same intersection we were going to. This round-a-bout was put in just a few weeks ago and I was noticing that this big truck was HAULING. I slow down as I come close to the intersection, mostly because I know it's icy and I don...
