Service And Baptisms!

Image
This week was packed of work! it just so happened that we were signed up to go to a humanitarian center, food bank and a home. probably put in 15 hours of service this week and it was amazing. I had a fun little experience on exchanges this week. I was with Elder Romero (Zone leader) and we were in his area. We went by a house because they asked for a bible and when we knocked the guy that answered was pretty dang off and was like I never asked for one, get out of here. We get back to the car and I get hit with "you gotta go back" feeling. The guy was a class A meanie head so I wasn't super excited to go back. I ask elder Romero, "Hey, you ready to get Toasty?" (toasty is an acronym for Thrive On Awkward Situations Today. We use it as missionaries a lot) He says yes, and we hop out of the car. Elder Romero tells me, okay you got this I trust you. We knock again and a LADY answers! She was super super nice and we talk with her about the Bible and about her life s...

I Ate Wood :/

So there is a statistic for this Idaho Falls Idaho Mission. It is this: The average missionary gains 35-40 lbs while serving their 18 months or 24 months. This is a fact, I am witnessing missionaries plump up like that kid from Willy Wonka that ate the blueberry stuff.  I am a miracle I guess. I have LOST 18 lbs since I left in March. THIS IS NOT GOOD! I keep trying new stuff bc I like food but it keeps coming back and biting me.  A week ago I went to a Thai place and had coconut soup (very very good) but being the money sensitive missionary I am I ate EVERYTHING in the bowl. What I didn't realize is the BAMBOO DECORATIONS SANK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE BOWL. So I crunched and crunched on this stuff and choked it down. But I didn't want to waste! That night I didn't sleep, my guts were on fire. In the morning I vomited and there was WOOD SPLINTERS in there! I had splinters in my stomach and was miserable. I couldn't even stand straight all day. But because of Priesthood bles...

So that kid I talked about last week came to the Temple Visitors center and we invited him to Church. HE CAME AND BORE HIS TESTIMONY! Elder Oringdulph and I were squirming so much. But in the end he did great, he quoted The Greatest Showman and then sat down. haha great guy! All week we were trying to find new people to teach. and we found less actives or people that just wanted service. Then on Sunday Night we go to a home that is on the edge of our boundaries and we've knocked on their house sooooo many times already but they finally let us in! when we do get in we talked about the power of prayer and three members of the family said they wanted to be baptized!! It was so awesome!  We also put that chinese Lady on date! She makes us rose tea and chinese cookies every time we go there.  I am about to go have a really fun day at the zoo and so there isn't a ton that I can write about bc I'm just excited to go hangout with my district!  Love y'all!! Pictures (My camera i...

I Love Life

Image
So much Amazing stuff happened this week it's hard to think of what I want to write about!  Monday, Right as we were finishing up P-day an 18 yr old guy comes in and basically tells us he was lost, we were gonna help him with directions but then he said I'm lost in life. WELLLLLLL no one else wanted to cut P-day short and Me and Oringdulph wanted to teach him so we took him into a room and asked him what was up..  Basically this kid has done every drug on the planet (except meth) and is wanting to find a new life.  We gave him some things to read and BOY did he read! He stayed up all night and read through the whole darn Book of Mormon! notes and drawings and thoughts everywhere! we have taught him twice since then and we have seen how the gospel has changed him countenance. I LOVED GENERAL CONFERENCE My favorite talk was by an Apostle named Steven R Bangerter and he talked a lot about how to raise and teach children.  It reminded me of how amazing my parents are, I ...

Question Asked And Answered

Yo Wyatt boy You are half way through your mission general conference.  Crazy.  Was this one different from the MTC gc?  Where did you watch this one?  I guess your cousin Jessica had her baby. That's crazy. Mom and I went to pirates cove for a leadership thing last week,  it was fun. I got a ton of free cool stuff from Vivint.  Some new nike kicks, bags,  shirts,  jackets,  and a new AR rifle.  So I had a couple of favorite talks but my question I had was how I could have a better attitude and testimony of early church history. (Btw, you never told me what you thought of that article I sent you)    Elder Oaks and Christopherson both talked about the importance of learning the history. And that sometimes the history you read is not coming from a very reliable source.  Mom and I have been reading "the saints" together at night,  and it is interesting to me how unrefined our early leaders were.  They got into fight...

To the plaaaaaace I belonggggg NORTH VIRGINIAAAAAAAAA I had this song in my head allllllllll week!  My new companions name is Elder Oringdulph and he's from Northern Virginia. He is a stud and a half. I've been praying for a companion who is happy and energetic and that wants to work and MY PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED! He wants to work super hard and knows that he has to do extra studies and he doesn't complain about it! He's also hilarious and loves to laugh! I'll have more stories next week I promise.  This week has been a really good one for me in the fact that I'm able to look at my life and see what I need to change and work on. (When you train you always see different things you can improve on)  As missionaries we help people prepare to make promises with God. I would like to write about that this week. but this time I want to help you all to prepare for one of the most important times of the year. And that is General Conference.  In the Bible we see that there ...
